Ceramic Coating for the Lamborghini Huracán in Manchester
The Huracán is the Lamborghini most owners actually drive — which makes it the one that most needs protecting. Its paint is soft, its nose is low, and its variants range from gloss Performante carbon to the Tecnica's matte options, each needing a different coating approach.

The Huracán ran for a decade and sold more than any Lamborghini before it, which means Greater Manchester's roads hold everything from early LP 610-4 cars to the final Tecnica and STO editions. What unites them for a detailer is the paint: Lamborghini clear coat of this era is notably soft, marking easily under washing and showing every swirl on the wide, flat engine cover that dominates the car's rear view.
Variant matters enormously. A Performante wears forged carbon fibre — a marbled composite that cannot be treated like woven carbon or polished like paint. The STO is a festival of exposed carbon and aggressive aero that traps dirt in every channel. The Tecnica and EVO are frequently ordered in matte and satin Ad Personam finishes that rule out machine polishing entirely. A coating plan for a Huracán is therefore written for the specific car, not the model badge.
The good news is that Huracán paint responds beautifully to careful correction and coating. The flat panels show gloss depth superbly, the colours — Verde Mantis, Arancio Borealis, Giallo Inti — gain real richness, and a coated car washes down in a fraction of the time, which matters on the variant owners actually use.
Forged carbon, woven carbon and the Performante problem
Forged carbon fibre, Lamborghini's marbled composite used across the Performante and later STO parts, has a clear coat like paint but a chaotic surface beneath it. It can be gently corrected for surface marks, but aggressive polishing risks cutting through high spots on the weave pattern. We treat it as its own material: mild products, low machine speeds, and coating to protect the finish rather than correction to perfect it.
Conventional woven carbon — roof panels, engine covers, mirror caps — is more forgiving but thinner than paint, so depth readings and restraint apply. Exposed carbon also yellows under UV over years, which a UV-resistant coating genuinely helps prevent, making coating a preservation measure on carbon-heavy cars rather than a cosmetic one.
- Forged carbon handled as its own material — no paint techniques
- Matte Tecnica and STO finishes: chemical prep, matte-safe coating only
- Low nose and wide rear deck: priority zones for PPF discussion
- Engine cover and louvres detailed around heat and complex geometry
- Brake dust management for the large standard steel or carbon-ceramic brakes
The Sterrato and the daily-driven cars
Two Huracáns need special mention. The Sterrato, with its raised ride height, arch extensions and rally brief, collects mud and grit in places road cars never see — its coating plan leans on heavy-duty protection for the lower body and arches. At the other extreme, the many Huracáns used as genuine daily drivers in Manchester need the hardest-wearing coating band and a maintenance rhythm, because their paint faces motorway mileage that garage queens never see.
Whichever the variant, the sequence is the same: honest inspection, correction matched to the finish type, coating chosen for the car's life — not a one-size package with the model's name pasted onto it.

Can a matte Huracán Tecnica be ceramic coated?
Yes, with a dedicated matte coating. The car is prepared chemically — no machine polishing, which would shine the finish — and the coating adds protection and water behaviour while keeping the paint perfectly flat. It is the single most valuable service for a matte car, because matte paint cannot be corrected if it gets damaged.
Is forged carbon fibre safe to polish and coat?
Coat, yes; polish, only very gently. Forged carbon's clear coat can take a light refinement for surface marks, but heavy correction risks the high spots of the marbled pattern. We protect Performante and STO carbon with coating and handle any defects conservatively, explaining the limits before touching it.
Which Huracán panels should get PPF?
The front bumper, bonnet and front wings take most stone strikes thanks to the low nose, and the sills and rear arches suffer from debris off the wide tyres. Many owners film that package and coat everything else. On matte cars, film deserves extra consideration because the paint beneath cannot be repaired in patches.
How soft is Huracán paint, really?
Soft enough that a single poor wash leaves visible swirling, and soft enough that correction must use measured, gentle combinations rather than brute force. It is a known trait of Lamborghini paint from this period. The upside: it also refines to an exceptional gloss when polished patiently and then coated.
My Huracán is a daily driver — is coating still worth it?
Arguably more so than on a garage queen. The coating takes the chemical and UV punishment of daily Manchester use, makes winter washing quicker and safer, and keeps resale condition up on a car whose mileage will be scrutinised. Choose the hardest-wearing band and keep to the maintenance rhythm.
Can you coat the STO's exposed carbon?
Yes — and on an STO it is close to essential. The car is covered in exposed carbon panels that face UV, road film and track debris. A UV-resistant coating slows the yellowing that affects ageing carbon and makes the aero channels far easier to clean after a track day.
