Ceramic Coating for the Lamborghini Urus in Manchester
The Urus is the Lamborghini that does everything: commuting, family duties, airport runs, winter. That workload — plus the largest panels Lamborghini makes — means its coating plan is about durability and washability above all else.

Most Lamborghinis lead sheltered lives. The Urus does not. It is the school-run, supermarket and motorway car, out in February salt and August heat alike, and in Greater Manchester it is by far the most commonly seen model on the road. Its paint faces in two years what a garaged Huracán faces in ten, which completely changes what good protection looks like.
Scale is the second factor. The Urus carries the biggest panels Lamborghini has ever fitted — a long bonnet, tall doors, a huge tailgate — and sits high, so its lower bodywork, arches and sills live permanently in the spray thrown up by its own wide tyres. Brake dust output from stopping two and a quarter tonnes is prodigious, baking onto wheels that are often 22 or 23 inches and intricate with it.
The coating plan therefore leads with the hardest-wearing products, treats wheels and glass as first-class citizens rather than add-ons, and sets a realistic maintenance rhythm for a car that gets properly dirty every week. Done right, a coated Urus washes in half the time — the saving owners actually feel, every single week.
Where a Urus takes its punishment
The front bumper and bonnet lead edge collect motorway stone strikes; the lower doors and sills are sandblasted by front-tyre spray; the rear arches flare into the path of everything the rear tyres throw up. On dark colours especially, the lower third of a hard-used Urus tells its mileage story clearly. Film on the sills and arches, coating everywhere else, is the combination that answers it.
Height creates its own washing problem: the roof and upper tailgate are hard to reach, so they are the panels most often washed badly or skipped, exactly where a coating's self-cleaning behaviour and easy rinsing pay back. Glass coating matters more here too — a big windscreen, Manchester rain and motorway spray make treated glass a genuine safety upgrade, not a luxury.
- Hard-wearing coating band specified for daily, all-weather use
- Sill and rear-arch PPF recommended — the tyre-spray zone
- High-temperature wheel coating against heavy brake dust loads
- Glass coating for the large windscreen and motorway visibility
- Interior protection valued: family use, leather and screens
Performante and SE considerations
The Urus Performante adds extensive carbon fibre — bonnet, arches, spoiler, diffuser — plus the option of matte paint, so its plan borrows from the Huracán playbook: carbon handled separately, matte finishes chemically prepared and coated with matte-safe products. The SE hybrid is mechanically identical from a detailer's chair, but its charging port area and additional badging need care during washing and coating.
Whatever the variant, paint condition on arrival varies hugely with how the car has been washed. Many Urus models arrive with heavy swirling from weekly hand car washes, and the correction stage — not the coating — is where most of the transformation happens.

Why does a Urus need coating more than other Lamborghinis?
Because it is used like a normal car in abnormal size. Daily mileage, winter salt, supermarket car parks and family life attack its paint constantly, and its large panels show every defect. Coating will not stop car-park dings, but it shrugs off the chemical and UV punishment and halves the effort of keeping a big car clean.
How long does coating a Urus take?
Longer than a Huracán — there is simply more car. Allow two to three days for preparation, correction and coating, more if film is being fitted to sills and arches. The wheels alone, at 22 or 23 inches with heavy brake dust contamination, take a meaningful share of the first day.
Can you protect the Urus interior as well?
Yes, and on this model it is often half the point. Leather protection resists the dye transfer, spills and abrasion of family use; fabric and screen protection can be added for the cabin. Interior protection applied while the car is in for coating costs less than a separate visit and keeps the whole car at one standard.
Which panels should have PPF on a Urus?
Sills and rear arches first — they sit in constant tyre spray and show it within a year. Then the front bumper and bonnet edge for motorway work. Full front-end coverage suits cars doing serious motorway mileage. The roof and tailgate rarely justify film; coating handles them well.
Does coating help with how dirty the rear of a Urus gets?
Yes, noticeably. The flat tailgate of any SUV sits in turbulent air and collects road film faster than any other panel. A coated tailgate sheds that film far more easily at wash time and stays cleaner between washes. It cannot repeal aerodynamics, but owners consistently notice the rear is where coating earns its keep weekly.
What maintenance does a coated Urus need?
A gentle hand wash every two to four weeks depending on mileage, and a maintenance visit roughly annually for decontamination and top-up. The car works hard, so its coating does too — the top-up rhythm keeps the hard-wearing layer performing instead of quietly expiring early.
